As an 8th-grade teen leader with Chester County STEM Scholars, Aniuta Gupta is passionate about helping other young people explore the many possibilities STEM offers beyond robotics and computer science.
“I felt STEM has become synonymous with computer science and robotics when it is so much more,” Aniuta shared. “If teens knew careers better, we would not feel so overwhelmed and could make more informed decisions about our future.”
One of Aniuta’s favorite Teen Science Café experiences featured an EMT who taught participants basic emergency medical skills and demonstrated real-life response techniques. The event sparked her interest in psychology, mental health services, and emergency response careers.
“I had so much fun, and it made me really want to join the medical field,” she said.
Inspired by that experience, Aniuta was recently accepted into the Upper Uwchlan Ambulance Corps Juniors Program, where she will receive EMT training while continuing to develop leadership, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
Through her involvement in Teen Science Café, Aniuta has gained confidence reaching out to professionals, organizing events, and creating welcoming spaces where fellow teens feel comfortable asking questions and exploring new interests.
Her next goal is to bring a psychologist to an upcoming café event so teens can learn more about careers in mental health and the pathways available to enter the field.
As a young leader already making an impact in her community, Aniuta is helping other teens discover future STEM careers while exploring her own path in healthcare and public service.
