The Teen Science Café Network is thrilled to be co-hosting some exciting learning opportunities starting on March 1st.

Fellow adult leaders from the CU Science Discovery Teen Science Café & Gateway Teen Science Cafés will be hosting live, video call webinars focused on (1) hosting interactive teen science cafés & (2) communicating and collaborating virtually with teen leaders, respectively.

WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: CU Science Discovery has been delivering engaging, hands-on, materials rich programming to students for more than 35 years. Now we can say we have almost one year’s experience delivering many of those programs for students online! We’d love to share our experience in order to help you make your cafés as interactive, fun, and worthwhile as possible. In this webinar we’ll share our favorite tips, resources, methods, and successes for facilitating online activities, working with materials, encouraging constructive social engagement among students, and getting your content across.

WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: The Gateway Teen Science Cafés & The Academy of Science-St. Louis will be sharing a practical, intuitive, and user friendly tool they’re using to foster online communication & collaboration. Network leaders will deliver a demonstration on how to use Google Slides to create a Virtual Planning Meeting Room space, along with an overview of apps used within the space and demonstration of how those icons link to other functions, plus the apps that can be used by teens and cafe leadership to communicate.

WEBINAR DESCRIPTION: The Gateway Teen Science Cafés & The Academy of Science-St. Louis will be sharing how their user friendly tool supports the development & implementation of their virtual, online programming. Network leaders will once again deliver a demonstration of how they use the Virtual Planning Meeting Room in action with their Teen Leaders. Webinar attendees will gain an in-depth examination of: how their Teen Cafe Leadership Council is organized; expectations of Teen Leaders and how they handle conveying and tracking of expectations; committees; types of meetings (planning, dry-run, cafe rehearsals); office hours for teens; and other events they host with their Teen Leaders as virtual team-building experiences throughout the year.
