I was just reading this blog post about having virtual book clubs (http://www.starnetlibraries.org/general/a-twist-on-traditional-book-clubs-using-skype/) and wondered whether this could work for a virtual teen science cafe.

Imagine there is a really dynamic scientist that has done a TED talk about a very hot topic of interest to teens. Participants could watch the 17 minute TED talk in advance and write down all of their questions, ideas and comments and then have a live chat with the presenter with a national gathering of like-minded teens. This seems more interesting, because the teens could watch the TED talk as many times as they wish, would have lots of time to thing about their questions, and we could potentially have multiple chats with the presenter for the different time zones.

What are the draw backs of this idea?
