The Teen Science Café Network received funding from the National Science Foundation to support TSCN sites in introducing teens to technical career paths associated with natural disasters. Emergency responders with technical backgrounds from EMT and other medical fields, to safety specialists monitoring dams, weather, fire, and more, are found in every community and can be excellent teen cafe presenters, opening the eyes of youth to STEM pathways in their future.
For sites interested in doing a café on Technology for Emergency Response, please contact us so that we can provide you with support. We have created a Trivia Question Sheet_final and Trivia Question Sheet_final_adult_leader_answer_key to be used at the event to collect data on student understanding. We have also created this document—Presenter guidance_FINAL_03-29-2018—that you may use invite and guide presenters. Should you be intersted in doing a café event, we have small stipends for sites that do these in spring of 2019 thru September 2019. But our funding is limited, so contact us with your ideas.
